The Hong Kong Observatory reported a minimum temperature of 10.9 degrees Celsius (51.6 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday morning, the lowest so far this winter.
Due to the ongoing influence of the winter monsoon, residents can expect cold mornings from Wednesday to Friday, according to the weather forecaster.
It said minimum temperatures in urban areas on Wednesday would be around 10 to 11 degrees, while the New Territories may be a few degrees cooler. The maximum temperature during the day is expected to climb to 17 degrees.
“A dry winter monsoon will bring cold and fine weather to Guangdong persistently over the next couple of days. The temperature difference between day and night will be rather large over the region,” the Observatory said.
The cold weather warning, strong monsoon signal and red fire danger warning are currently in force, meaning that the risk of fire is extremely high.
