Upcoming American and Chinese negotiations will revolve around urgent US security requirements on Iran, Fox News reported Wednesday, hours before Chinese President Xi Jinping was set to arrive in the US for a 3-day visit.
According to correspondent Peter Doocy that the administration aims to halt Chinese relaying of potentially dangerous information to the Islamic republic that could harm the U.S.
“President Trump’s top ask is going to be that the Chinese stop providing intelligence to the Iranians that they are using to target American interests, American service members, American allies, including some attacks that may have killed American service members in combat. Xi is going to ask for the US to stop selling weapons to Taiwan as part of a longstanding defense agreement.,” Doocy said, although it was unclear if this was only his assessment.
“Is that the trade-off? Is Xi going to say, ‘Okay, we’ll stop giving the Iranians intel if you stop giving the Taiwanese weapons?’ Maybe,” he continued, adding that “the other thing, of course, is AI.” He continued, “It’s not in the US or Chinese interest during their race for AI supremacy for the machines to become self-aware and destroy humanity or try to, so they are expected to figure out some kind of a red phone situation if, if things get really out of hand. But, but the primary, the, the most time-sensitive asks for each side have to do with Iran and Taiwan.”

China’s ambassador to Israel, Xiao Junzheng, has recently told Israel Hayom his country does not sell weapons to Iran but he stopped short of embracing the economic isolation effort led by Washington, presumably because Beijing needs Iranian oil for its energy needs, buying nearly all of Iran’s sanctioned crude and serving as Tehran’s largest commercial lifeline.
“We never sell weapons or provide ammunition to countries at war or to conflict zones,” Xiao insisted. According to Xiao, “China has been working to promote peace talks, and will continue to play its role for an early end to the conflict and restoration of peace in the Middle East.”
