Top 10 most profitable Serie A sales of 2026 summer transfer window

Italy international Marco Palestra was the most expensive Serie A sale of the 2026 summer transfer window following his €60m departure from Atalanta to join Chelsea in the Premier League, but who else features in the top 10 this summer? See the full list below!

The Serie A transfer window has now come to a close. You can see how the deadline day action unfolded on the Football Italia Liveblog.

Palestra became the fourth-most expensive Italian footballer of all time when he completed his transfer to Chelesa at a cost of €55m plus bonuses, taking the full package up to the €60m mark. In the history of Italian football, only Mateo Retegui and Sandro Tonali (twice) have moved for bigger fees.

Two Serie A players moved for total fees in the region of €40m this summer: Tarik Muharemovic left Sassuolo to join Leeds United in the Premier League in a deal that also benefitted Juventus, who had a 50% sell-on clause for their former youth-team player.

On the final day of the summer transfer window, Jonathan Rowe also left Bologna after two seasons to join Atalanta on loan with an obligation to buy in a package that also totalled €40m.

Arguably the biggest name to leave Serie A this summer was Rafael Leao, who had made it clear from the end of the 2025-26 season that he had hoped to leave the Rossoneri for a new experience abroad.

Despite an initial asking price of €60m, Milan kept lowering their demands and eventually, Galatasaray confirmed that they had secured Leao’s services for a guaranteed fee of just €38m. Bonus clauses could increase the total figure, though.

Completing the top five is Santiago Castro, who left Bologna to join Roma in a fee reported to be worth €35m plus bonuses.
