Teyana Taylor arrived at the VMAs in an impeccable look that, as usual, is guaranteed to have her recognized as one of the best-dressed stars of the night.
She walked the red carpet wearing a sheer black coat-gown by Zuhair Murad with a feather collar, cuffs, and hem, and a dramatic plunging neckline from the designer’s fall 2026 couture collection. Her dark eye makeup matched her outfit.
The One Battle After Another star is nominated tonight in the Best Collaboration category for “Hard Part,” her single featuring Lucky Daye. Clipse, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, and Malice are nominated in the category for “Chains & Whips,” in addition to French Montana and Max B for “Ever Since U Left Me,” Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter for “Bring Your Love,” PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson for “Stateside,” and Shakira and Burna Boy for “Dai Dai.”
“Hard Part” is featured on Taylor’s 2025 album, Escape Room. The album was her first release following a five-year hiatus from music.
“I recorded this album on my terms. This is the most vulnerable work I’ve ever done; my label gave me a lot of support and freedom to do that,” Taylor said of the record in her 2025 Women in Hollywood interview with ELLE.
She continued, “Sometimes, you’ve got to just shake the table. Some people believed, and some people didn’t believe in the vision I had, and that made me go harder. Would I have been the same Inez if I didn’t go through that? Would I have been the same Perfidia? Would I be the creative artist that I am today if I hadn’t gone through that break?”
