Secretary for Health to lead delegation to Macao to attend 8th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Conference on Inheritance, Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, will lead a delegation to Macao this afternoon (September 21) to attend the 8th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Conference on Inheritance, Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine to be held tomorrow, and will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony.
The Conference is co-organised by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HHB), and the Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. Health officials as well as experts from the three places will discuss topics such as inheritance and innovation, talent cultivation, and the industry transformation of Chinese medicine (CM), and will promote multiple GBA CM co-operation projects.
Members of the Hong Kong delegation include the Controller of Regulatory Affairs of the Department of Health, Dr Fung Ying; the Project Director of the Chinese Medicine Hospital Project Office of the HHB, Dr Cheung Wai-lun; and the Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority, Dr Libby Lee. The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Operator of The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK), Mr Wong Kwai-huen, and the Hospital Chief Executive of CMHHK, Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, will also join the delegation for the conference.
Professor Lo will return to Hong Kong around noon tomorrow. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Health, Dr Cecilia Fan, will be the Acting Secretary for Health.

SCST congratulates Siobhan Bernadette Haughey, Ryan Choi, Lau Chi-lung and Leung Wing-yee on winning medals in Asian Games
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Miss Rosanna Law, today (September 22) extended her congratulations to swimming athlete Siobhan Bernadette Haughey on winning one more gold medal for the Hong Kong, China Delegation in Women’s 100m Freestyle at the 20th Asian Games.
She also congratulated fencer Ryan Choi on winning a silver medal in Men’s Foil Individual; wushu athlete Lau Chi-lung on winning a silver medal in Men’s Nanquan & Nangun and cyclist Leung Wing-yee on winning a bronze medal in Women’s Road Race.
Miss Law said, “Siobhan has lived up to expectations, winning a gold medal in Women’s 100m Freestyle today after securing a gold medal in Women’s 200m Freestyle yesterday (September 21). This was a remarkable achievement! Ryan delivered an outstanding performance throughout the day, demonstrating excellent technique and personal style, and achieved a breakthrough result in Asian Games by winning a silver medal with determined efforts. Stepping onto the Asian Games podium for the first time, Lau Chi-lung won a silver medal with his superb performance. Leung Wing-yee showed perseverance and gave her all to successfully secure a bronze medal. The Delegation continues to bring good news, and we look forward to our athletes achieving further success!”
The Hong Kong, China Delegation has so far won twelve medals, namely three gold, five silver and four bronze, at the Asian Games. The four medals won today are as follows:
