US Stock Market Today: S&P 500 Futures Climb On Higher-For-Longer Rate Jitters

The Morning Bull – US Market Morning Update Tuesday, Sep, 22 2026

US stock futures are pointing higher this morning, with E-mini S&P 500 contracts up around 0.6% and Nasdaq-100 futures gaining just over 1.0%. The move comes even as the US 10 year Treasury yield has rebounded to around 5.0% after the Federal Reserve lifted its key interest rate to a 3.75% to 4.00% range and signalled at least one more increase this year. That keeps borrowing costs elevated for mortgages, credit cards, and business loans. At the same time, US manufacturing output slipped 0.3% in August, which hints at pressure on factories and industrial suppliers. Investors now have to weigh whether higher for longer rates hurt rate sensitive areas like real estate and smaller companies more than they help sectors such as banks that often benefit from richer lending margins.

Rate pressure is back on in a big way, so if you want candidates that might handle higher yields better, start with 30 resilient stocks with low risk scores, leading the pack on resilience and balance-sheet strength.
