Nicolò Tresoldi is a highly touted young player for Belgian side Club Brugge. The 21-year-old is being targeted by both Germany and Italy, both of whom he is eligible for. Although Tresoldi is content within Germany’s youth setup, he will not rule out the possibility of playing for the Azzurri.
“I wear the Germany shirt with pride, I’m very happy to be here,” Tresoldi said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “I want to play the [U-21] EUROs with Germany. After that, we’ll see what happens next. I had good talks with Jürgen Klopp. I explained my situation to him, and he understood. He’s a great guy. It wasn’t a typical coach-player conversation, but more like a father-son talk. He said that the door is always open for me. I said the same thing to Roberto Mancini. It’s not just that my father comes from Italy. I was born and raised there too.”
Tresoldi was born in Italy to an Italian father and an Argentine mother of Italian descent. The Tresoldis moved to Germany in 2017 when Nicolò entered the youth setup of Hannover 96.
