CBS has locked in casting changes for Marshals Season 2, adding a new face while expanding a familiar one. Production began in June in Park City, Utah, with the series returning this fall.
Marshals Season 2 expands cast, gives Morgan Lindholm an extended role
Marque Richardson will be joining the Marshals Season 2 cast in a recurring role. He will play Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Burns, a character set to bring legal pressure on the elite marshal unit.
Morgan Lindholm also returns with a bigger role as Maddie. Viewers know her as the bartender at Bullet ‘N Barrel, but Season 2 will dig into her strained relationship with Cal, played by Logan Marshall-Green. The show previously revealed Maddie as Cal’s estranged daughter. Additionally, Luke Grimes will returns as Kayce Dutton alongside Tatanka Means as Miles and Ash Santos as Andrea. Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios produce the series.
For those in need of a refresher before Marshals Season 2, the Season 1 finale ended with Cal and Belle Skinner-Turek under fire at a remote house. Whether they died or survived is yet to be answered. However, set photos show Santos and Means together for the Season 2 premiere, “All Hat No Cattle.”
Moreover, Richardson’s casting is a change toward legal battles. A federal prosecutor entering the fold means the marshals will face scrutiny beyond street violence. Furthermore, Lindholm’s expanded presence gives Cal a personal arc should he survive. The Bullet ‘N Barrel bar has served as a team gathering spot, and Maddie’s role there creates room for uneasy encounters and possible reconciliation.
The show in general centers on Kayce Dutton after leaving the Yellowstone Ranch. He combines cowboy skills with Navy SEAL training to lead an elite U.S. Marshals unit. His team includes Cal, Belle, Andrea, and Miles. The psychological weight of serving as the last defense against violence in Montana remains central.
After all, Kayce’s family obligations still matter. His son Tate and Broken Rock confidants Mo and Thomas Rainwater remain in his corner. Now, Marshals Season 2 may also explore Kayce’s love life (via Deadline).
