Fans of Hong Kong Disneyland’s Mystic Manor now have an exclusive opportunity to meet the attraction’s leading duo in a new meet and greet experience.
Lord Henry Mystic and Albert Meet and Greet Characters
As of May 17, the fan-favorite original characters of Mystic Manor, Lord Henry Mystic and his mischievous monkey companion, Albert, have officially stepped out of the Manor and into Mystic Point at Hong Kong Disneyland.
The new character experience features Lord Henry Mystic greeting guests outside his manor, while Albert appears separately with his helpful handler, zoologist Charlotte, a new original character.
Their official debut coincides with the 13th anniversary of Mystic Point, and it marks the first time guests have been able to meet the Mystic Manor characters in person at the park.
Lord Henry Mystic Greets Guests at Mystic Manor
In a post shared by Disney Magical Kingdom Blog, we got our first look at the debut appearances by Lord Henry Mystic, Albert, and Charlotte on the morning of May 17.
In the shared video, we first get a look at Albert as he emerges from a backstage area with his handler, Charlotte, while the unseen crowd roars with excitement.
The reel then cuts to Lord Henry Mystic’s appearance from backstage, while the crowd reacts with applause. Henry is shown wearing a white suit, purple vest, purple tie, and red fez as he walks through the courtyard, addresses guests gathered nearby, welcoming them to Mystic Point and his home, Mystic Manor.
In a later close-up shot, Albert addresses guests in more detail, adding:
“Welcome one and all to Mystic Manor, a wonderful place in a world-class home of art, antiquities, and of course, mine and Albert’s personal residence. I hope you all enjoy everything and never forget, as part of the S.E.A., Society of Explorers and Adventurers, ‘Exploratio Continua!’ Fare thee well. I’ll let you all enjoy your own tour through the grounds. Cheerio!”
Later in the reel, Lord Henry appears to be speaking with a fan about S.E.A. history as he autographs a card for the guest.
Albert and Charlotte Explore Mystic Point
In the remainder of the reel, Albert and his handler Charlotte take the focus as they’re seen in close-up interactions with other guests.
Albert appears as a large puppet character carried by Charlotte, the new zoologist character created for the experience. Charlotte is dressed in explorer-style attire with a wide-brim hat and cradles Albert while engaging with guests. Albert wears a red fez and a burgundy cape-like garment, matching his Mystic Manor look.
During the new experience, she explores Mystic Point with Albert while Lord Henry meets with guests elsewhere in the land.
In the course of the video, Charlotte explains that Albert is a long-tailed macaque monkey, while expertly puppeting Albert.
In another scene, Albert can be heard vocalizing, “banana!” after appearing to jolt awake from a nap on Charlotte’s shoulder.
Who Are Lord Henry Mystic and Albert?
Lord Henry Mystic and Albert are original characters from Mystic Manor, the trackless dark ride located in Mystic Point at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Lord Henry is described as an eccentric adventurer, explorer, and collector of art, with Albert as his faithful monkey companion. Mystic Manor is presented as Lord Henry’s manor house and private museum, filled with art and artifacts gathered from around the world.
The attraction’s story centers on Albert discovering a newly acquired Balinese music box. The box is said to contain music dust that can bring inanimate objects to life, which sets off the events of the ride as artifacts throughout Mystic Manor become animated.
Lord Henry is also tied to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, or S.E.A., Disney’s fictional organization of explorers, inventors, collectors, and adventurers that connects attractions and characters across several Disney parks.
The debut expands the world of Mystic Manor beyond the attraction itself, giving guests a new opportunity to interact with characters from one of Hong Kong Disneyland’s original and exclusive stories.
