Matt Damon says the Bourne team is still trying to crack another story. The actor’s latest comments have given new hope to fans of the action franchise. Matt Damon says he’s open to returning as Jason Bourne

Nearly 10 years after Jason Bourne reached theaters, Matt Damon says the search for another chapter has never really stopped. Speaking to Parade, the Oscar winner revealed that the people behind the series still want to make another film if they can find the right story.

According to Damon, everyone involved loved making those movies, so the hunt for a fresh story never really stopped. “We’re always looking to try to get another one of those because we loved it, everyone who worked on them,” Damon said. The Martian actor also joked that there’s always somebody trying to come up with the next big idea, even telling fans, “If you have anything, let us know.”

The Bourne franchise has given fans five movies so far, with Matt Damon suiting up as Jason Bourne in four of them. The franchise started with The Bourne Identity back in 2002, introducing the amnesiac ex-CIA assassin as he tried to piece together his past while staying one step ahead of people who wanted him gone.

Damon stepped aside for 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, which put Jeremy Renner in the spotlight, but he later made his comeback in Jason Bourne in 2016. Since then, the series has been quiet but has been discussed often.

Across the years, the franchise has become one of Hollywood’s most successful action series. According to Rotten Tomatoes, The Bourne Ultimatum remains the highest-rated entry with a 92% critics score.

On IMDb, it holds an 8/10 rating. The original The Bourne Identity carries an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.8/10 IMDb rating. Meanwhile, 2016’s Jason Bourne received a lower 55% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.6/10 rating on IMDb.
