Florentino Perez has placed a €150 million question at the center of the Real Madrid presidential election, and the answer may be closer to Bayern Munich than he has publicly admitted.
The Real Madrid president has promised to launch a huge offer for a “galactico” if he wins re-election, immediately sparking speculation about who could become the club’s next marquee signing.

Perez has tried to narrow the field, insisting the player doesn’t play in the Premier League and publicly ruling out several names, including Erling Haaland and Michael Olise. But reports in England claim the denial may have been part of the strategy.
The Telegraph and The Guardian have both reported that people close to Perez believe Olise is the player behind the proposed bid, despite the public attempt to distance Real Madrid from the Bayern Munich attacker.
That would make the situation one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the summer. Olise has rapidly become a key player for Bayern since leaving Crystal Palace, and his contract runs until 2029.
Bayern have no need to sell, and honorary president Uli Hoeness has previously suggested the club wouldn’t consider letting him go for anything below €200 million.
Even so, Perez is reportedly prepared to test Bayern’s resolve with a €150 million offer, a figure that would instantly make Olise one of the most expensive players in football history.
Why Olise fits the Real Madrid plan
The appeal is obvious. Olise is left-footed, technically sharp, creative in tight spaces and dangerous in transition. His ability to play from the right while drifting inside would give Real Madrid another high-level attacking weapon and a different profile from their current forwards.
Reports have also claimed Perez became especially impressed with Olise during Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid. The winger’s composure and threat in major games are said to have strengthened the belief that he could succeed at the Bernabeu.
There’s another layer to the story. Jose Mourinho, who has been heavily linked with a return to Real Madrid, is reportedly an admirer of Olise and sees him as a strong fit for the system he would want to build.
If Mourinho does return, Olise’s directness, decision-making and ability to carry the ball at speed would make him a natural target for a side looking to become more ruthless in transition.
Why Bayern may refuse to negotiate
The problem for Real Madrid is that Bayern are in a strong position. Olise is under a long contract, has quickly become central to the club’s project and is expected to be offered improved terms.
Bayern’s stance has reportedly been firm: Olise isn’t for sale, even at €150 million. Turning down that kind of money would be a major statement, but it would also show how highly the German club value him.
Joao Neves of Paris Saint-Germain has also been mentioned as a possible target, but the strongest speculation around Perez’s mystery bid continues to circle back to Olise.
For now, Perez has left the soccer world guessing. But if the reports are accurate, the mystery “galactico” may already be hiding in plain sight.
