Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. recently broke his silence about his encounter with a transgender influencer during his previous visit to Taiwan, which has resurfaced recently on social media.
During the latest episode of Curious Mike, Porter said that he exchanged DMs before hanging out with her. But the Brooklyn Nets star was eventually surprised to learn she’s a transgender woman, which he believes she should’ve disclosed from the get-go.

“So I was out there doing some appearances, and I get a DM from some woman out there, and she got—she got something going on. Like, she looks kind of good to me, like more like my type physically. And I respond to the DM. We ended up kicking it, but I, like, was having to talk to her through Google Translate because we didn’t speak the same language,” Porter narrated.
“And we kicked it for, like, maybe an hour, and someone had taken a picture. And, like, three years later, the picture came out. I guess it went viral in Taiwan first, and it never, like, reached over here. And people were DMing me saying, ‘Yo, you’re going viral in Taiwan right now. People are saying that you were spotted with a transgender woman.’ I had no — I don’t even know who this woman was. And I don’t know if she was a transgender woman. We never got that far into speaking,” he added.

Brooklyn Nets News: Michael Porter Jr. speaks about his plans for his love life
Through his podcast, Michael Porter Jr. has been more vocal about his stance on dating and relationships in general. The Brooklyn Nets forward admitted he hasn’t been perfect in that regard due to his celebrity status. However, he recently said he plans to take his love life more seriously now as he gets older.
“Uh, actually I don’t have a girlfriend right now, but the next girlfriend I have is going to be wifey, and I’m loyal to her,” Porter said.
Besides working on his love life, Porter is also getting ready for the upcoming NBA season, as he’ll enter his contract year with the Brooklyn Nets. The one-time NBA champion will earn roughly $40 million in 2026-27 before hitting unrestricted free agency next offseason.
