Sometimes, it’s hard to find a healthy meal that won’t break the bank.
However, Hy-Vee may have come up with a solution that is good for you and your bank account.
This month, Hy-Vee introduced its Dietitian Dishes. These dishes have been medically tailored by a team of registered dietitians to help customers find healthier meal options.
“Dietitian Dishes make healthy eating easier, especially for individuals who are just learning how to navigate chronic conditions like diabetes or heart disease,” Elisa Sloss, Hy-Vee’s assistant vice president of HealthMarkets and dietitians, said in a news release. “These dietitian-inspired entrees offer convenient, nutritious meal solutions that are packed with delicious flavor, contain key nutrients and can be prepared within minutes.”

So far, Hy-Vee offers 15 dietary options for customers to choose from, including Egg Roll in a Bowl, Braised Beef and Herb Roasted Chicken. Each of the dishes is made with whole-food ingredients designed to support heart health and those diagnosed with diabetes.
The frozen, single-serve meals can be prepared in a microwave within five minutes or less, which also helps customers save time in the kitchen.
Each of Hy-Vee’s Dietitian Dishes can be purchased for $9.99 and qualifies as an item that can be bought under the SNAP program, according to Hy-Vee’s website.
Hy-Vee also intends to expand its selection of Dietitian Dishes over time to include additional meal options.
