Residents and visitors in Hong Kong can enjoy discounts on dining, shopping and attractions in August by presenting tickets for five major events, including an exhibition, as authorities seek to boost the retail and catering sectors.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced on Monday that ticket holders for the selected events in the city would be able to enjoy 5 per cent discounts at more than 100 designated hotels and tourist attractions in August.

“With a series of major sports, cultural and arts events under way, we have proactively joined forces with multiple industry partners to enhance these offers with an event ticket spending promotion, linking mega-events and activities with spending experiences to encourage visitors and locals to spend, thereby supporting tourism-related sectors,” said Anthony Lau Chun-hon, the board’s executive director.

The events include the Hong Kong Football Festival 2026 to be held on July 31, August 1, 4 and 5, and the Football Summit 2026 featuring Bayern Munich and Aston Villa on August 7.

Other activities are the 2026 TMElive International Music Awards on August 22 and 23, and concerts by mainland Chinese singer Silence Wang Sulong on September 5 and 6.
