Danish Chamber of Commerce in China receives letter from President Xi

Head of Danish business chamber in China, Simon Lichtenberg, is surprised and excited to receive reply from President Xi.

The head of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China, Simon Lichtenberg, says he was surprised and pleased to receive a personal reply from Chinese President Xi Jinping after writing to him earlier this year to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and China.

In his letter, Lichtenberg extended congratulations on behalf of the Danish business community and expressed hopes for deeper commercial cooperation. President Xi responded in May, encouraging Danish companies to contribute to stronger friendship and mutually beneficial collaboration between China, Denmark, and Europe.

Lichtenberg highlighted China’s strengths in green manufacturing, digitalisation, and intelligent transformation, noting that these have supported Danish enterprises in expanding their presence in the Chinese market. He said he remains confident in China’s long-term economic potential and views the country as an essential destination for global competitiveness.

Vice Chair Ann Sophie De Meester described the chamber’s reaction to the presidential reply as both “surprised and excited,” adding that many foreign companies now see China as a valuable learning ground for innovation and development.

Lichtenberg said the chamber will continue working as a bridge between China and Denmark, helping Danish businesses and government representatives better understand opportunities in the world’s second-largest economy.
