Taking place in Suzhou, China on 8 and 9 September, industry leaders will discuss emerging trends, collaboration, regulation and more.
The agenda includes a keynote session from Sarah Nightingale, APAC principal consultant at GlobalData, looking into how China has gone from a fast follower to a global innovator.
China has seen a significant rise in the clinical trial space, with data from Deallus, a GlobalData company, finding that the country boasts both quicker timelines and lower costs for Phase I trials. On average, Phase I trials in China took an average of seven months compared with 17 months in the US. This session will discuss how China is at an “inflexion point” globally, and what steps it will take to become a real global leader.
Other sessions on day one will evaluate decentralised clinical trials (DCTs), artificial intelligence (AI), privacy laws and good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines.
On day two, sessions in the OCT stream include bridging global standards, navigating operations for struggling biotech companies and overseas trial applications.
On day one of the CTS stream, there will be sessions on patient enrolment, domestic logistics, labelling strategy and cell and gene therapies (CGTs).
Day two CTS sessions include talks on navigating comparator sourcing challenges, quality standards, and designing flexible supply chains for multi-modality trials.
The day will close with a panel discussion on China’s roadmap for the future, which will feature Nightingale, Johnny Ju, head of clinical operations at Insilico Medicine and Rong Chen, CMO of Doma Bio.
OCT China launched in 2025, with sessions focusing on the country’s growth. According to GlobalData analysis, the country now leads the world in clinical trial activity, having surpassed the US over the past decade in the total number of trials, including both ongoing and planned studies.
