Mason Haynes, a bodyguard who has worked closely with various celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, has died. He was 52.

According to a GoFundMe launched in support for his family, Haynes was killed in a “tragic road traffic accident” on July 4, two days before the bodyguard was meant to celebrate his 53rd birthday. “He leaves behind his devoted wife Fay, his daughter Brooke, his son Noah, a loving family, and an extraordinary circle of friends spread across the world,” the fundraising page reads.

“Since his passing, hundreds of messages have poured in from people whose lives Mason changed. Reading them, one thing becomes impossible to ignore,” the page continues. “Everyone describes the same man. A man who made people feel welcome from the moment they met him. A man who would cross countries to help a friend. A man who never let a loved one down and who saw the deep qualities in people that others often overlooked. A protector. A mentor. A prankster. A giant in every sense of the word, with an even bigger heart.”

The fundraiser was launched to “stand beside [Haynes’] family, which includes his wife and two children, and ensure he “gets the send-off he truly deserves – a celebration of a life that touched so many people.”

The funds will also “help ease some of the immediate financial pressures that inevitably follows such a sudden and devastating loss.”

“Your support will give Fay and their family the time and space to grieve, heal and begin rebuilding their lives, without Fay having to make impossible decisions that she could never have imagined she would have to face,” the page reads.

Haynes’ employer, Trojan Security UK, also paid tribute to the late bodyguard in an Instagram post shared on July 6.

“We would like to pay homage to an absolute legend in the Close Protection game, Big Mason,” the company captioned a photo featuring Haynes’ working with Jenner. “Gone too soon. Rest easy and fly high Brother 🕊️.”

Haynes was part of the reality family’s security detail when Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October 2016. The reality star had been in the country for Fashion Week and was joined by her then-husband, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, mom Jenner, and sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.

Eight of the 10 suspects were convicted of robbing the star of millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry in May 2025. In a statement after the ruling, Kardashian — who wasn’t present for the verdict — said she was “deeply grateful” to French authorities for their work “pursuing justice” in the case.

“The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” she added. “While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice, and promoting a fair legal system.”

When reflecting on his career and his time with the Kardashians during an October 2018 interview with London Now, Haynes shared that the reality TV family was among his first clients.

When asked whether he had gotten into “any scrapes” as part of his security work, he responded, “Most prominently, you’d have to talk about the Paris robbery on Kim Kardashian, although I can’t go into much detail about that, I was part of that team, and that incident was simply a set of unfortunate circumstances which led to something bad happening.”

Other than the Kardashians, Haynes has worked with celebrities such as Taylor Momsen, Kevin Hart, Charlie Puth, Lewis Hamilton, and Nicki Minaj.

The Gossip Girl alum paid tribute to Haynes on Thursday.

“I’ve struggled for days and still am not sure how to process this. Mason Haynes was my family, my protector, my confidant and one of my closest friends,” she penned alongside a photo of the pair. “When someone knows every dark secret about you and never judges, spends 24 hours a day with you seven days a week, you form a bond that is hard to explain. He was a powerful giant with the softest heart of anyone I knew. Smart as a whip, artistic and most importantly he was always putting others needs first. His advocacy against bullying ran deep within him.”

Momsen said she will “miss” Haynes “in a way I can’t explain.”

“My love to his family who meant more than the world to him,” she continued before directing her followers to the aforementioned GoFundMe. “If you can, please donate to the gofundme in my story to support this immense loss so many people I know are feeling. I love you Mason, I can’t believe I’ll never hear your voice again. You were truly one of a kind. Hold your loved ones close and don’t take a minute for granted. Love to you all xxt
