Filmmaker Adam Carter Rehmeier is stepping behind the camera for a new thriller that turns an ordinary Uber trip into a chaotic night of danger. The project has also attracted major names behind the scenes, including Oscar winner Adam McKay, The Recruit star Noah Centineo, and producer Alex Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios.
According to Deadline, Seeker follows an Uber driver who becomes obsessed with finding his missing fiancée. His search takes an unexpected turn when he picks up a passenger who may have information connected to his fiancée’s disappearance.
What begins as a normal ride soon becomes a tense and unpredictable night involving paranoia, threats, violence, and dark comedy.
The film is being produced by McKay and Kevin Messick through Hyperobject Industries. Centineo and Enzo Marc will produce through Arkhum Productions, while Hammerstone Studios is financing and producing with Lebovici and Jon Oakes.
Rehmeier continues his genre-bending streak with Seeker
For Adam Rehmeier, Seeker marks a move into darker thriller territory after several projects built around comedy, romance, and coming-of-age stories. His 2020 film Dinner in America premiered at Sundance and developed a strong following for its unusual mix of punk music, romance, comedy, and emotional storytelling.
Rehmeier later directed Snack Shack, a 2024 coming-of-age comedy about two friends who decide to run a snack bar during the summer. The movie continued his interest in young characters who had sharp humor and messy personal relationships.
With Seeker, Rehmeier is applying those filmmaking instincts to a much more dangerous and tense setting. The confined environment of an Uber creates a natural source of tension, while the driver’s personal obsession gives the story an emotional element beyond the mystery itself.
With McKay, Centineo, and Hammerstone Studios involved as producers, the movie brings together filmmakers with experience in comedy, independent cinema, and genre storytelling.
