Elon Musk‘s ex-wife, Justine Musk, shared a rare insight into her relationship with the tech billionaire, revealing the ways he made her feel “insignificant” during their marriage.
Justine, who was married to the SpaceX founder from 2000 until 2008, was featured in writer-director Alex Gibney’s documentary, Musk, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday, Sept. 8. In the film, she disclosed that during their first dance at their wedding, Musk whispered in her ear, “I am the alpha in this relationship.”

“I learned the term ‘gaslighting’ through my relationship with Elon,” Justine said in the documentary, claiming that Elon made her feel “insignificant” in their marriage and frequently talked down to her. “He was constantly remarking on the ways he found me lacking,” she said.
Justine alleged that Elon had plenty of insecurities and would be self-conscious when he picked outfits, once telling her, “I can’t look cool or hip, because I need to look like an engineer.”

Justine also debunked a claim Elon made about the former couple’s first child, Nevada, who died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) when he was 10 weeks old. Justine denied a claim Elon made on social media stating that he held Nevada as he died. However, Justine said that she was the one who held the infant.
After Nevada died in 2002, Justine and Elon welcomed twins Vivian and Griffin in 2004 and triplets, Kai, Saxon, and Damian, in 2006. Since their divorce, Elon has fathered at least eight children with three women, musician Grimes, Neuralink executive Shivon Zillis and former right-wing commentator Ashley St. Clair.
Justine claims Elon is obsessed with procreation and considers the mothers of his children “breeders.” Justine said, “The breeders are interchangeable.”
