Nurturing Top Students and Global Citizens at CAIS

The 2025-2026 academic year concluded with celebratory milestones for Christian Alliance International School (CAIS) as it proudly sent off its largest graduating cohort to date.

Diverse Pathways and Academic Excellence
With outstanding academic results, CAIS students have earned well-deserved recognition from universities worldwide. This year’s graduates received offers from distinguished institutions, including McGill University, the University of Toronto, The University of British Columbia, Imperial College London, The University of Manchester, University of Sydney, Tsinghua University, The University of Hong Kong, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), among others.

Leaving behind a legacy of academic distinction, vibrant community, and servant leadership, the Class of 2026 will pursue diverse fields ranging from medicine, architecture, civil engineering, international relations, music, and fine arts. 

Established in 2017, CAIS offers three education pathways: the Alberta (Canada) curriculum, IB Diploma Programme, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Together, these options provide a robust and diverse range of opportunities tailored to meet the unique needs of every student. CAIS has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by Alberta Education.

Celebrating Success: 2026 IB Diploma and Alberta Diploma
This year also marks the graduation of the fourth IB Diploma cohort at CAIS, yielding outstanding results that reflect the academic rigor and high quality of teaching embedded within the school’s culture. Out of the 14 IB candidates this year, two students scored 44 points, and two scored 43 points. CAIS students achieved a remarkable average score of 37.8 points with a 100% pass rate. An impressive 43% scored 40 points or above.

CAIS Head of School, Daniel Schick, says, “This year’s graduates have achieved our strongest academic results ever, and we celebrate their outstanding accomplishments. The Class of 2026 represents CAIS’ fourth cohort of IB graduates, and we are very pleased with the remarkable trajectory of growth that has seen our average IB score increasing each year. This is a testament to the unique learning environment at CAIS where students are nurtured academically, relationally, and spiritually.”

Among the achievements of this year’s Alberta Diploma graduates, one acceptance particularly stands out: the CUHK–Tsinghua University Dual Undergraduate Degree Programme in Economics. This highly selective, world-class programme bridges two of the most prestigious academic institutions in Asia, alternating study between CUHK and Tsinghua University. Graduates will culminate their journey with two distinct bachelor’s degrees, uniquely preparing them for complex global economic challenges. Receiving this coveted offer is Hugo Choy, the CAIS Class of 2026 Alberta Valedictorian. His success is a testament not only to his academic drive but also to the supportive environment that nurtured it.
 

“When a teacher asks a question and you answer it wrong, people don’t laugh at you,” Hugo shares. Instead, he describes a community deeply interconnected by friendship. “Even if you lose a game, your peers are still there cheering you on.” This empowering sense of support has given Hugo the confidence to chase ambitious horizons. During his time at CAIS, he co-founded the Chinese Debate Club, led the school’s International Chess Club, and successfully tackled AP Calculus BC, one of the most demanding AP courses available.

Cultivating a Heart for Service
Hugo’s dedication extends far beyond the school campus. For over twelve years, he has volunteered at a rural orphanage in Xi’an, China, supporting orphaned children and working to build sustainable opportunities for the surrounding community. His initiative reflects one of the core values of CAIS: Service. The school nurtures a culture of serving in students through various opportunities, such as student-led service clubs, local and overseas service projects during the annual high school Discovery Days programme, and leadership roles like the Student Ambassador programme.

Beyond academic achievements, Hugo is an accomplished karate athlete who has represented Hong Kong, China on the international stage. During high school, he was accepted into the elite training programme of the Hong Kong Sports Institute and was named a Junior Sports Scholarship Athlete for consecutive years. Through karate, Hugo has garnered far more than titles, medals, and a high-ranking position in the global World Karate Federation chart; it has fostered deep personal resilience and broadened his global perspective.

Speaking as Alberta Valedictorian at the CAIS graduation ceremony, Hugo reminded his peers, “As we start a new chapter in our lives, I hope everyone remembers that at the end of the day, what matters most is not your trophies, grades, or where you go for university, but the people who can lend you a shoulder when you are down, and the places you can call home when life loses its direction.”

A Christ-centered Education
As a Christian school, CAIS believes that true success goes much deeper than visible results and material gains. “While we are proud of our graduates’ exceptional academic achievements, we are more than equally proud of the young people behind them,” Daniel Schick adds, “Our students have demonstrated leadership, integrity, and service to our community. It is a joy to see young people who are equipped with competence, confidence, and character, and they embody our school vision to be the best for Hong Kong, for the world, and for Christ.”

Stepping beyond the school campus, the CAIS Class of 2026 leaves a lasting mark. For CAIS, this year is not just a celebration of high scores, but a profound affirmation of its mission: inspiring students to flourish, transform, and make a compassionate, lasting impact on the world through service to humanity.
