Tsuen Wan Court on Monday recorded a guilty plea from Ho Siu-tung, 40, on two counts each of accepting advantages as a public servant and misconduct in public office over his illicit dealings with Qu Haipeng between August 2021 and January 2023.
Under a plea deal, prosecutors agreed not to pursue a third misconduct charge against the defendant.
A separate charge against Ho’s wife, 38-year-old Mishell Ho Yin-veng, for aiding and abetting a public servant in accepting advantages, was also left on the court file.
The court heard how the chief inspector, who has been suspended from duty, succumbed to greed after struggling to maintain his family’s affluent lifestyle on a monthly income of HK$100,000.

Ho first met Qu in June 2021 when the businessman reported losing US$17 million in a scam involving three suspects.
