The Treasure Hunters Club and more are getting TV treatments

Skywild has optioned The Treasure Hunters Club, Our Little Secret, and The Affinities. The first book takes place in a seaside town and is a murder mystery. It features pirate lore, unforgivable grudges, secret societies, and a lost treasure. The second book, Our Little Secret by Edward Kay and Mikhael Klassen-Kay, revolves around the mysterious death of a seemingly respectable teacher with horrifying secrets.

Robert Charles Wilson penned the third book, The Affinities. It takes place in a near future and tells the story of a world where people have become divided into extreme groups.

Explaining why Skywild optioned The Treasures Hunters Club, Natalie Urquhart, the director of scripted at the independent company, said in a statement, “The Treasure Hunters Club stood out immediately for the originality of its premise and rich mystery engine.” Urquhart added, “It’s a smart, character-driven story with real momentum and comes with the built-in fan base of bestselling author Tom Ryan. This is a story that feels inherently episodic, and we see a clear path to bringing that to screen with the right creative team” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Meanwhile, Skywild’s president and co-founder, Angela Jennings, underscored how these acquisitions fit into the company’s vision for its future. She said that the company’s focus is on building a slate that is “ambitious, collaborative, and grounded in strong storytelling.” She added, “These projects are a natural extension of that vision and speak to the kind of material we plan to bring to the screen.”
