A chart-topping country artist traded the tour bus for a Texas saloon as she officially saddled up for one of television’s most anticipated Western spinoffs. The Yellowstone universe’s latest addition tapped the musician for a recurring role that puts her right at the center of a small town’s biggest secrets.
Morgan Wade joins the cast of Dutton Ranch
Country singer Morgan Wade has joined the cast of Paramount+’s Dutton Ranch in a recurring role, as Deadline reported on April 21. Wade will play Carol, a bartender at the local watering hole in Rio Paloma, Texas, who sees all. The casting adds another musician to the expanding Yellowstone universe created by Taylor Sheridan.
Wade is appearing in one of her very first acting roles with her casting in Dutton Ranch. Wade posted a screenshot of the news on Instagram and wrote that she is “excited to finally share this.” She added that she is “proud to be part of [Dutton Ranch] and grateful for the opportunity.”
Wade released her debut album Reckless in 2021, and Rolling Stone named it the year’s Best Americana Album. She has since released the albums Psychopath, Obsessed and The Party Is Over (Recovered). Wade has toured with the likes of Chris Stapleton, Zach Bryan, Luke Combs and Alanis Morissette.
Various shows in the broader Yellowstone universe have featured country music singers before. Past musicians include Ryan Bingham, Lainey Wilson and Tim McGraw. Wade is also set to star in the upcoming movie Daisy as a bull rider.
Dutton Ranch premieres on Paramount+ on May 15. The series sees Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler leave Yellowstone for Texas. The cast includes Ed Harris and Annette Bening. Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal and Finn Little also star. Chad Feehan created the nine-part series. He serves as showrunner.
The show is based on characters created by Sheridan and John Linson.
