X Factor and Happy Mondays star 'brand new' after surgery

Rowetta , who hails from Manchester, rose to fame after joining the Happy Mondays in 1990.

She was part of the rock band, which also features the likes of Shaun Ryder, up until last year (2024).

The singer also appeared on series one of X Factor back in 2004, finishing fourth behind Steve Brookstein, G4 and Tabby Callaghan.

Former Happy Mondays star Rowetta issues health update

Rowetta posted on Instagram on Friday (November 7) informing fans she was in hospital and had undergone surgery.

In one post, accompanied by a picture of her in Manchester United pajamas, she said: “Sorry for not replying to everyone’s texts, calls & messages.

“I’ve been transferred from Trafford to St Mary’s (who have been wonderful) this morning, so hopefully home tomorrow.”

The former Happy Mondays star then posted again from a hospital bed in a gown, adding: “Big love & thanks to St Mary’s for stepping in last minute.

“Came out of surgery smiling. What a wonderful team.

“Back on the ward now, morphined up for the pain, but – all went well, home tomorrow & should be good to sing again next week.”

Rowetta has now revealed she is “feeling brand new” and is set to return home on Saturday (November 8).

Posting on Instagram on Saturday morning, she said: “Thanks again for all the messages.

“Woke up feeling brand new & going home this morning. Thanks to St Mary’s & the NHS.”

Fans and fellow celebrities have rushed to social media over the past few days, sharing their well-wishes with the singer.
