World Cup Transportation Costs Significantly Reduced for Final, NY Matches amid Criticism

The fees for everything related to this summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico have been generally astronomical, from ticket prices to hotel fares and everything in between.

Fans heading to MetLife Stadium will at least be receiving some respite, however.

According to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton, “The New York/New Jersey host committee has slashed the cost of its FIFA World Cup shuttle bus service to MetLife Stadium by 75 percent, reducing the fare for fans from $80 to $20 during the tournament.”

Originally, the committee allocated 10,000 bus seats for transportation to the stadium, though that has been increased to 18,000 seats for games that don’t occur on school days and 12,000 seats for the three group-stage games at MetLife taking place before the school year concludes (the additional seats will come from utilizing school busses).

Fans who already purchased the $80 tickets will receive a refund of the difference.
