Winter Soldier Star Sebastian Stan Talks MCU Future After The Batman Part II Role

Sebastian Stan gives an update on his Marvel future after joining The Batman Part 2. Stan is one of the few MCU veterans from the early days who is still active in the franchise. The actor will return as Bucky Barnes in this year’s Avengers: Doomsday.

What did Sebastian Stan say about his MCU future?

Following his casting in The Batman sequel, fans have wondered whether it spells the end of Stan’s time with Marvel. However, his recent comments say he remains hopeful about continuing to appear in MCU movies.

Stan commented on his future in the MCU (via ComicBookMovie) at Cannes Film Festival by saying, “It’s sort of like having a sibling you’ve never known you had, who you’ve spent 15 years with. There’s been a comfort there returning every few years, which hopefully I’ll keep doing.”

His comments suggest that the actor will continue playing the Winter Soldier in the MCU beyond the upcoming Avengers sequels. At the time of writing, there have been no official casting announcements for Avengers: Secret Wars, which follows Doomsday.

Stan’s character in The Batman Part 2 remains a mystery. While many fans speculate that he may be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face, there are conflicting reports about the same. The Batman sequel has already scooped up another MCU veteran, casting Scarlett Johansson in an undisclosed role.

Besides superheroes, Barnes has taken on many compelling roles in recent years. The actor earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Apprentice, and his filmography also includes A Different Man, the thriller Fresh, and I, Tonya.

Stan made his first appearance in the MCU as Bucky in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avengers. Since then, he has reprised the role over half a dozen times across movies and TV.
