Zack Snyder recently addressed rumors about whether he would direct a live-action “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns“. The rumors have circulated for a long time, ever since Snyder first worked for DC. In the past, the “Man of Steel” director has also said that Frank Miller’s comic book series “The Dark Knight Returns” is his favorite.

Zack Snyder on if a live-action Dark Knight Returns movie could happen

Zack Snyder recently sat down for a chat with the Preston & Steve show and talked about the popular “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns” rumors.

There have been speculations that Snyder might soon take on the series by Frank Miller. Snyder directly addressed the buzz by saying, “I love the rumors. Maybe if there’s enough rumors, someone will make the movie. Someone will be like, the rumors are so thick that we just have to film it.”

The host mentioned how the rumors helped Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” come into being. Snyder agreed, saying he “put weight on the rumors” because they usually work. However, the director did not give a clear answer. Instead, he responded, “So, you know, yeah. Who knows?”.

In July, Zack Snyder also attended an event with Frank Miller in Los Angeles, where the question again popped up about when he would start working on the rumored project. To this, the director replied, “When they let us.” At the event, he also teased, “Well, the good news is he’s already finished the comic book. That’s done. So the good news is, the hard work is over. The heavy lifting, if you will.”

Since then, fans have been theorizing that the “they” here might refer to the Paramount-Warner Bros merger.

Moreover, many insiders told Cosmic Book News that Snyder and Jay Oliva have already completed a storyboard for the project.
