What else do we know about The Challenger TV show with Will Arnett?

Known for projects like Is This Thing On?, Arrested Development, The Madison, and his voice in the Lego Batman movies, Will Arnett will play NASA official George Abbey in The Challenger TV show, reports The Hollywood Reporter. He joins former Twilight star and acclaimed actress Kristen Stewart, who plays the lead role of astronaut Sally Ride.

Abbey was the person who assigned Ride to the crew for a 1983 mission on the space shuttle Challenger, making her the first American woman in space.

The Challenger is based on Meredith E. Bagby’s 2023 book The New Guys and follows the story of an infamous space shuttle that exploded shortly after takeoff in 1986. The incident saw the death of all seven crew members inside the space shuttle. Ride served on the commission that investigated this case.

According to the official logline, the Prime Video TV series will showcase the story of Ride “and the rest of the diverse Astronaut Class of ’78, through the ranks of the shuttle program, through initial recruitment and training, professional and personal highs and lows, until her historic glass ceiling moment as she becomes the first American woman in space.”

Maggie Cohn (The Staircase, Impeachment: American Crime Story) is the creator, showrunner, and writer of The Challenger. She also serves as the executive producer alongside James Hawes, Kyra Sedgwick, and Valerie Stadler. Kristen Stewart, Dylan Meyer, Maggie McLean, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey are also executive producing.

The Challenger TV series has yet to receive an official release date window.
