Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man creator discusses Peter Parker’s next enemies
Jeff Trammell, creator of Disney+’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, recently teased stronger villains for Season 2 in an interview covered by Deadline. Trammell confirmed that Peter Parker will face significantly elevated stakes this time around. He stated that the show will skip a summer between seasons, allowing Peter to grow as a hero.
Trammell explained that Peter has become more adept at being Spider-Man heading into the new season. “He’s done a bit more Spider-Man, he’s a bit more adept, and he’s really kind of filling himself,” Trammell said. However, that growth comes with tougher challenges from the villains around him.
The creator emphasized that adversity defines the best Spider-Man stories. “Everyone knows the best Spider-Man is a down Spider-Man,” Trammell said during the interview. He added that the show will put Peter through significant hardship because everyone around him has also leveled up.
Trammell also highlighted that the villains this season pose a much greater threat than before. “He’s facing a lot of really big, really big, dangerous people,” Trammell noted about the upcoming challenges. He also teased that Peter needs to step up his game considerably. “He’s gotta bring his A-game,” Trammell confirmed when discussing the season’s intensity.
Season 2 will also introduce notable new characters from Marvel Comics lore. Gwen Stacy, also known as Ghost-Spider, Eddie Brock, and Venom all join the upcoming season. Disney+ will premiere the season in January 2027 as part of Phase Six of the MCU. Colman Domingo returns as Norman Osborn, continuing the character’s evolution into the Green Goblin across multiple seasons.
