Chicago Fire Season 14’s finale ended on an explosive note (literally), putting several fan-favorite characters’ fates in uncertainty until Season 15 arrives. This was one of the biggest incidents the team has faced, and not everyone will likely make it through.
Here are the details on the situation.

Everyone trapped in Chicago Fire’s explosion who could die
Season 14 finale of Chicago Fire, titled “Thank You,” featured a large explosion during a structure fire that trapped multiple members of Firehouse 51.
The episode delved into a non-linear narrative: while the present time builds toward an impending catastrophe, the flashbacks unravel multiple plotlines. In the end, it all culminated in a massive explosion that engulfed several members.
This included the entire Rescue Squad 3 team, consisting of Mouch McHolland, Kelly Severide, Joe Cruz, Harold Capp, and Tony Ferraris. In addition to Firehouse 51, Truck 81’s Stella, Herrmann, Ballard, and Sal Vasquez are also caught in the incident. Given the nature of the explosion, Chicago Fire Season 15 might ultimately kill one or two characters. But who will it be? That remains to be seen.
However, based on recent reports, certain characters are sure to return. Reportedly, Taylor Kinney, who plays Kelly Severide, and Miranda Rae Mayo, who portrays Stella Kidd, have signed new deals with the network (via Deadline). So, it is safe to say they’ll make it through the disaster.
On the other hand, when Season 15 arrives, any loss featured in the next season is going to be devastating. Especially since many of the characters had something good going right before the major incident.
Some of these storylines included Christopher Herrmann and Cindy are planning to renew their vows, while Kelly is struggling to decide whether to accept the OFI leadership position. Meanwhile, Mouch McHolland discovers a publisher wants to release his old romance novel, and Joe Cruz learns that Chloe is pregnant with twins. And Isaiah unexpectedly returns because his mother can no longer care for him.
With so much going on, it would be interesting to see how the show will kill when Chicago Fire returns for Season 15 later this year.
