Almost ritualistically, the season kicks off each May with the who’s who of Hollywood flocking to the South of France for the Cannes Film Festival, followed by yachting from the Monaco Grand Prix along the French Riviera in June. Then, just like clockwork, the second wave arrives in July, ready for even more fun in the Mediterranean sun.
For the celebrity set, these vacations tend to fall under the quiet luxury aesthetic, embodying the essence of famous European flicks with dreamy, slow-paced stays at some of the continent’s most beautiful hotels. This summer proved to be no exception: Selena Gomez celebrated her 34th birthday at Il Borro in Italy like a scene straight out of Under the Tuscan Sun, while Kate Hudson’s family spent their annual Mamma Mia–esque Greek holiday at One&Only Aesthesis on the Athenian Riviera, and so on and so forth.
