Samantha Harris recalls Tom Cruise stopping a Ducati from crushing them
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Harris, who worked as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight back then, revisited the time when Cruise saved her from a potential injury on set. She revealed that from the day her kids were born, she had warned them not to drive a motorcycle. However, she revealed she did get involved in a motorcycle incident. It happened in front of “20 different cameras” and fans standing for the Knight and Day movie promotion.
Explaining what they were required to do as correspondents, she added, “We weren’t even supposed to ride on the motorcycle. We were supposed to talk to him, do an interview, and get into a chase car with a stunt driver and then chase him on his motorcycle. But I was like, ‘Tom… can I just sit on the Ducati?”
She revealed that Cruise agreed to her request and asked her to sit on the Ducati. Given that she had never ridden a motorcycle before, she instinctively tried to get on it the same way she would mount a horse.
“Now, if you know the difference with a horse, you put your left foot in the stirrup on the left side, and you swing your leg around, and you get on, so that’s what I’m thinking I do,” she explained. However, her wrong way to get on the vehicle could have possibly caused her injury.
“And I go to get on, and this Ducati, slow motion, as thousands of fans are watching, as cameras are rolling, this 500-pound Ducati starts to tip with me on it over, about to crush Tom Cruise,” she continued.
She expressed gratitude that Cruise stepped in, caught the Ducati with both hands, and lifted it back upright. She then thought to get back to the chase car. However, the ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor asked her to give the Ducati another chance.
He also guided her on how to get on. She then wrapped her arms around him and audibly complimented his abs, thinking she had only said it to herself. It was only later that she realized the remark had been caught on camera.
“It aired later that day. My husband saw it at home while he’s dealing with… our firstborn. And I’m pregnant with my second. I don’t even realize I’m pregnant.” She regarded it as “the most fun, awesome TV experience” out of all her different celebrity interviews.
