Verizon customers are reporting problems with their wireless service on Saturday, Aug. 8, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks service outages based on user reports.
As of about 5:25 p.m. ET, Downdetector showed 12,319 reports of Verizon problems within the last three hours, indicating a significant number of customers were experiencing service disruptions.
The vast majority of reported problems involved mobile phone service. According to Downdetector, 91% of reports were related to mobile phones, while 5% involved mobile internet and 3% involved Verizon’s 5G home internet service.
Reports are coming from multiple parts of the United States, with customers reporting difficulties making and receiving calls.
Downdetector’s data is based on user-submitted reports and does not necessarily mean all Verizon customers are experiencing an outage.
How to check Verizon’s outage status
Customers can check the status of Verizon service in their area through the company’s network status page. Users can enter their address to determine whether Verizon has identified an issue affecting their service.
