The 3 London coffee shops rated among the best in Europe in prestigious list

Here at MyLondon, we’re rather obsessed with London’s coffee scene. Whether it’s rating the best high street brands for a latte or their machine version alternatives in supermarkets, to the best loyalty schemes on offer, we’ve made it our businesses to sniff out even the faintest, caffeinated whiff of news.

Which is why we read with interest the findings of the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops, which snubbed London entirely in its worldwide top 100. Just two UK entries made the list, both in Scotland, with the likes of Australia triumphing over us with no fewer than seven entries, while the US steamrolled ahead with nine coffee shops.

Luckily, the organisation behind World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops has deigned to come up with an entirely European list, one which thankfully recognises three London entries. Here, we take a look at each of the trio.

Rosslyn Coffee, City of London

Rosslyn Coffee has been a fixture on Queen Victoria Street in the City of London since 2018 and comes out as London’s best spot with 12th place on the list of Europe’s best coffee shops. The chain has expanded with nine outlets along the Square Mile but it has clung to its indie roots with ambrosial-brewed coffee like no other. One to check out for the coffee lovers among us.

Moonstruck Café, Stockwell

Moonstruck Café on South Lambeth Road is number 18 on the list, a bastion of serenity, with magnolia-coloured, minimalist interiors contributing to the feeling of an “oasis of calm”. It’s just as well, as the cafe reserves plenty of gambles with its bold, punchy coffee and unique flavour. A non-profit art space downstairs cements its links to the community.

Oma Coffee Roaster, Oxford Circus

Fighting its way into the list at number 94 is Oma Coffee Roaster in Oxford Circus. The coffee-roasting brand originates from Hong Kong and is a new addition to Eastcastle Street, where it champions the phrase “small but mighty”. Its world class beans include ‘geisha varieties’ and other seasonal offerings, making every trip to this tiny boutique coffee shop a one-off experience.
