Terrifier 4 has received a big update that reveals when the new horror movie sequel will be set.
Terrifier is a horror movie franchise that stars David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown. The first Terrifier movie was released in 2016, followed by Terrifier 2 in 2022 and Terrifier 3 in 2024. Before that, the Art the Clown character appeared in a handful of short films.
A fourth terrified movie is now in the works. Damien Leone, who has directed all of the feature films in the franchise thus far, has previously said that Terrifier 4 will likely serve as the series’ finale.
What is the Terrifier 4 update?
On Instagram, Leone shared an update on Terrifier 4 that reveals the new installment in the franchise will take place around New Year’s Eve. This continues the tradition of basing the Terrifier movies around a holiday — the first two were both set during Halloween, while Terrifier 3 took place during Christmas.
A release date for Terrifier 4 has not yet been announced.
The last big update that Leone gave on the project was this past February. He said at the time, “The script is very close to completion, and I’m hoping to begin pre-production this spring. This is the most precious script I’ve written for many reasons, but it’s also the most challenging. There’s a lot of material to tackle and a lot riding on this one, not just creatively but emotionally.
“We’ve built something special together over the years. The cast and crew who have been here since the beginning deserve a finale that honors their dedication, and the fans who’ve championed this franchise deserve something unforgettable. In all honesty, I’m thrilled with the way it’s turning out and confident it will deliver. I will announce when the script is complete on my social media pages, which also means we’ll be moving into pre-production. If you don’t see it coming from or confirmed by me, then it’s not official.”
