Sydney Sweeney’s Wonder Woman costume just started a DC casting war that nobody saw coming. The Euphoria star’s superhero-themed photos with boyfriend Scooter Braun sparked a heated fan debate about her potential future role in James Gunn’s new DCU.

Sydney Sweeney shared photos and videos from a superhero-themed lakeside getaway on Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 22. The Euphoria star wore a Wonder Woman-inspired corset costume with a coordinating headband in the carousel post she captioned “Camp ’26.”
Meanwhile, her boyfriend, music executive Scooter Braun, 45, dressed as Superman for the outing. The gallery also featured multiple Wonder Woman photos and videos of the couple. In one video, Sweeney, 28, balanced on an inflatable water obstacle course. Braun rode a jet ski nearby during the same clip. Additionally, other snapshots captured the pair swimming, sunbathing and singing karaoke together.
Notably, Sweeney channeled iconic Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter with the look. Carter played the DC Comics superhero in the popular TV series from 1975 to 1979.
DC fans don’t want Sydney Sweeney as DCU’s Wonder Woman
The photos quickly sparked casting discussion among DC fans on social media. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello posted on X, “Do you want Sydney Sweeney to be the DCU Wonder Woman?” The responses leaned heavily against the idea.
One user replied, “She looks more of a Power Girl to me.” Another suggested, “What about power girl.” A third user wrote, “Nope, better be black canary or powergirl.” One simply responded, “No thanks.” Multiple fans pushed for Power Girl as a better fit for Sweeney instead.
DC Studios has not yet announced casting for Wonder Woman in its new cinematic universe. Previously, Gal Gadot played the character in the DCEU from 2016 to 2023.
Meanwhile, James Gunn and Peter Safran are leading the new DCU, which reboots the franchise with fresh casting. However, Sweeney has not publicly expressed interest in joining the DCU as Wonder Woman.
