The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is coming to an end very soon, but it is not going out without a bang and several kisses.
Before the show goes off the air, the CBS late-night talk show host has seemingly started a ritual of locking lips with the guests. This started with other late-night hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers, but has now extended to actors like Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Pedro Pascal.
Stephen Colbert locks lips with Julia Louis-Dreyfus
With his show on its way to a conclusion after 11 seasons, it seems that guests are eager to lock lips with the veteran host, a ritual that started with the appearance of fellow hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers on the show.
This started when the hosts were playing a game, where they were asked, “Have you guys ever made out with a guest on camera?” Colbert proceeded to specifically look at Fallon, who seemed baffled by the indication. When asked, Colbert said, “‘Cause I think you’ve made out with guests on camera.” To this, Fallon replied, “No, I think you just want to make out with me,” and pulled Colbert in for a kiss.
Stephen Colbert later revealed that he had locked lips with Sally Field, Helen Mirren, Allison Janney, Jeff Daniels, and Andrew Garfield.
Following this, on Tuesday’s episode, Julia Louis-Dreyfus made an appearance and made Colbert play the clips from the night prior. She then hinted that she wanted to join the list of people Colbert had kissed. “No one’s watching. It’s just between.” Louis-Dreyfus said. “What harm is there?” Colbert said.
The two leaned in for a kiss, drawing loud applause from the live audience.
Colbert also kisses Pedro Pascal
Colbert also shared a kiss with Pedro Pascal in the latter part of the episode. The Last of Us actor also signalled to Colbert that he wanted something and jumped on Colbert’s kissing bandwagon.
“I got jealous,” the Fantastic Four star said, and Colbert responded, “No need! Anytime. These lips will soon be free.”
Their kiss also drew immense applause from the audience.
