Spanish Super Cup switch: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético and La Real have iconic new venue ahead for 2027

The 2027 Spanish Super Cup will be played in Istanbul after the Spanish soccer federation’s executive committee approved the move on Thursday morning. The Turkish city was ultimately chosen to host the Final Four after Saudi Arabia, the tournament’s regular home since 2020, was ruled out because of a scheduling clash with the Asian Cup, which will take place from Feb. 2-7. The competition will return to Saudi Arabia in 2028.

The Super Cup’s Final Four format pits the Copa del Rey winner against the LaLiga runner-up, meaning Real Sociedad will face Real Madrid, while the other semifinal will see the league champion take on the Copa runner-up, with Barcelona facing Atlético Madrid.

Istanbul will host the 2027 edition of a tournament that has become an established part of the international soccer calendar, with broadcasts reaching more than 150 countries worldwide. Barcelona won the competition in 2026.

“With the agreement reached to hold the Spanish Super Cup in Turkey, the RFEF guarantees the continuation of the benefits Spanish soccer receives from staging this tournament, benefits that go directly to almost 1,000 clubs across all levels of the men’s and women’s game,” the RFEF statement said.

Riyadh Season sponsorship

Abdulmohsen Al Sheikh, an adviser to General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh, announced that Riyadh Season will sponsor the 2027 Spanish Super Cup, whose games will be held in Istanbul, Turkey.

The tournament’s games will be played at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, one of the most significant venues in soccer history and the site of the 2005 and 2023 Champions League finals.

As part of the collaboration, a specialist company will be responsible for the commercial rights and promotional activities surrounding the Spanish Super Cup in Istanbul, working in coordination with the Spanish and Turkish soccer federations.

The aim is to provide an international-level experience for clubs, players, fans, partners and the media, while also strengthening the competition’s global presence.

Riyadh Season is therefore expanding its support for major sporting events and strengthening its international profile through partnerships with leading sports organizations and competitions around the world.
