Scheffler vs. McIlroy 1UP (2)
My, my, my. Scottie Scheffler, 0-4 this week, has a horrible second shot after that wayward fairway metal. He has to stab one out of a depression in the native area and his ball sails over the green and into the juicy cabbage at the back. He tries to flop one out, fails, and succeeds only in prodding forward a couple of yards. Yuck. His next chip is much better but trickles wide.
For Rory McIlroy, a rare and priceless moment of serenity as his opponent loses his head. He doesn’t need to drain his 20-footer for birdie, but he does it anyway, because why not? He wins the hole and takes the lead.
