RevenueCat Shipaton: Building a Nutrition App With Zero Calories, Grams, or Guilt

RevenueCat brings in top creators to judge apps built for their specific niches. It’s a massive W for devs because they get to build tools for communities that are already hyped.
Creators/Influencers bring the ideas and the developers (from all around the world) build the apps at Shipaton.

Why Am I Building an Anti-Calorie Counter for Abbey Sharp’s Shipaton Challenge

Most nutrition apps feel like a toxic math exam. Abbey Sharp’s Hunger Crushing Combo framework flips diet culture on its head.

Open any popular diet app right now, and you will immediately feel your blood pressure spike XD.

You open the screen and get greeted with red progress bars, warning popups, and a terrifying numerical breakdown of every single bite you took today. Did you eat a slice of pizza? Get ready to type in gram weights, log sodium percentages, and feel guilty for the next six hours.

Ngl, tracking every calorie feels less like healthy living and more like doing your taxes three times a day.

Yeah we all focus on negatives rather than positivesYeah we all focus on negatives rather than positives

When I saw the Abbey’s Kitchen Influencer Challenge in RevenueCat’s Shipaton 2026, I knew immediately that this was the app I wanted to build.

Ditching the Math: The Hunger Crushing Combo

For those unfamiliar, Abbey Sharp is a Registered Dietitian and authorwith millions of followers across YouTube and TikTok. Her whole philosophy cuts straight through the noise of diet culture.
Instead of asking people to restrict, remove, or punish themselves, she created the Hunger Crushing Combo (HCC).

Designing for Messy Real Lives

The biggest problem with existing food apps is that they assume everyone lives in an Instagram reel with pre-portioned glass meal-prep containers. (Well, it’s a bitter fact)

Real life is not like that. Real life is eating leftovers standing over the kitchen sink while answering Slack messages, running after toddlers, or grabbing takeout after a ten-hour shift.

Omg, this is so true: the moment an app asks a busy person to weigh 35 grams of chicken breast, they delete the app. (Funny, but this is what happens in reality).

So for this challenge, we locked in a strict rule for our codebase: Zero Numbers. No calorie meters, no gram counters, and no punitive red warning badges. If an app makes you feel stressed about dinner, it has already failed.

Have you ever quit a health app because it made you feel exhausted? Drop your thoughts in the comments. I’d love to hear your take!
