One Aiken juvenile arrested after an armed robbery

A 17-year-old has been arrested for armed robbery during a firearm trade, according to reports from the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Two juveniles met up at Boundary Apartments on Silver Bluff Road in Aiken on Oct. 7 to trade their firearms before one stole the other’s weapon at gunpoint.

Police reports say that the offender pointed a pistol at the second juvenile before stealing his shotgun, allegedly stating “this is mine now.”

The victim of the robbery got in his vehicle and returned to his residence before calling the police.

Law enforcement were able to locate the offender based on a name and description provided by the juvenile victim.

The offender was taken into custody outside of an apartment where his sister and her children were located. He told law enforcement he stole the victim’s shotgun but did not point a pistol at him.

However, police found both the stolen shotgun, a 12-gauge Mossberg Maverick 88, as well as a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol, inside of the apartment.

The victim stated that he and the offender both attended the same high school together several years ago and recently reconnected, which was when they began discussing trading firearms.

The juvenile offender was transported to the Aiken County detention center but is not currently listed as an inmate.
