Newcastle United ready to agree transfer deal, Premier League rivals keen

Newcastle United will be saying goodbye to multiple players in this summer transfer window. In some cases, the matter might be out of their hands. Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes might turn out to be such cases with some top teams trying to sign them.

On the other hand, there are other players whose departures the club are more receptive to. And they are drawing the interest of other Premier League teams as well.

Newcastle United have already added to their goalkeeping ranks this summer. The Magpies have already signed Ewan Jaouen. And while one goalie has arrived, another could be on his way out.

According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United are willing to part with Nick Pope this summer. Ipswich Town have registered their interest in the veteran goalkeeper.

Nick Pope’s time at Newcastle United could be over

Pope has been at Newcastle United since 2022 and has already made 131 appearances for the club. He is 34 years of age though and the Magpies could be looking for a new direction.

Pope might still add value to other teams in the Premier League though. And it looks like Ipswich Town want to sign the 34-year-old goalkeeper.

That being said, it is not going to be straightforward. The same report goes on to state that Newcastle United’s asking price is expected to be a “stumbling block” in any potential negotiations.

So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Pope. Will he be at Ipswich Town next season, Newcastle United or somewhere else? Your guess is as good as mine.

Newcastle could sign another top goalkeeper

Newcastle United have already spent big money in signing Jaouen from the French second division, a bold move to say the least. Also, there is speculation that the club could make a move for James Trafford.

Trafford was signed by Manchester City last summer and was expected to be their number one. That goes to show how highly he is regarded.

But after Gianluigi Donnarumma became available, Manchester City did not waste any time and signed him. As a result, Trafford slipped down the pecking order.

Trafford is widely expected to leave Manchester City this summer. And if Newcastle United were able to sign him, it would have to be considered a major coup for the Magpies.

One would imagine though that other top clubs would also be interested if a player of Trafford’s potential ends up becoming available for a move.
