Netflix just gave fans of its animated horror-comedy a reason to celebrate early. The streamer dropped a new teaser for Haunted Hotel Season 2, and it also confirmed the release date, which is perfect timing for Halloween. Abaddon, the fan-favorite demon stuck in a little boy’s body, leads the chaotic announcement.
Netflix prepares a Halloween-season return for Haunted Hotel
In the teaser, Abaddon scrambles, snarls, and slams his way across the screen to deliver the news: Haunted Hotel will be coming back with new episodes on October 9. Season 2 will reportedly run for eight episodes, each roughly 30 minutes long.
Haunted Hotel centers on the Freeling family. Single mother Katherine moves her two kids, Ben and Esther, to a foggy stretch of upstate New York. They inherit a rundown hotel from Uncle Nathan after his mysterious death. The catch? Nathan’s ghost still lingers, and he isn’t ready to hand over the keys.
The hotel teems with ghosts, ghouls, and monsters. Abaddon, a demon trapped in an ageless boy’s body, ranks among the most memorable. The show mixes family sitcom beats with horror parody, drawing on classics like Freddy Krueger and The Exorcist.
Matt Roller created the series. He previously wrote for Rick and Morty and Community. Dan Harmon, Chris McKenna, and Steve Levy executive produce. Titmouse handles animation, with Erica Hayes supervising direction.
The voice cast returns intact. Will Forte plays Nathan, Eliza Coupe voices Katherine, Skyler Gisondo is Ben, Natalie Palamides is Esther, and Jimmi Simpson brings Abaddon to life. The streamer premiered Haunted Hotel in 2025, dropping all 10 episodes at once. The show cracked Netflix’s top 10 English-language series worldwide that opening weekend.
That performance pushed Netflix to renew the series just one week after launch. Animation takes longer to produce, so fans waited over a year for the Season 2 release of Haunted Hotel. Season 1 ended with the family surviving an apocalypse-level threat. The upcoming one looks set to dive back into monster-of-the-week adventures, family squabbles over hotel repairs, and Abaddon’s absurd humor.
