Crew Girl sets release date on Netflix
Netflix’s Tudum revealed that the new rowing drama series Crew Girl will premiere on Sept. 10. The eight-episode show comes from showrunner and executive producer Vivian Lin. The sports romance series follows a young athlete navigating competition, family struggles, and high school rivalry.
The story follows Teagan Tao, a gifted 16-year-old single sculler who watches her promising future unravel after a family scandal. She moves to the East Coast with her mom and joins the prestigious Easton Prep. The school offers no girls’ rowing team, however, forcing Teagan to adapt quickly. She finds her only path back onto the water by taking the helm as coxswain for Easton’s chaotic boys’ varsity crew.
Teagan faces the challenge of convincing an entire team to trust her leadership amid old money dynamics. Two rivals on the team also pull her in different directions. Arrogant team captain Josh Regis and quiet but determined local Cam Dillinger both compete for her attention. The series weaves athletic ambition with romantic tension throughout its first season.
Miku Martineau leads the cast as Teagan Tao, bringing credits from Bet, Kate, and Star Trek: Section 31. Jessica Paré of Mad Men and SEAL Team plays her mother, Ella Tao. Sam Braun steps into the role of Josh Regis after appearing in Time Cut and Bad Genius. Kyle Clark brings Cam Dillinger to life, known for The Baby-Sitters Club and Riverdale. Thomas Cadrot rounds out the main cast as Coach Matt Hayden.
Jeff Norton, Lindsay Macadam, Hillary Zwick Turner, Tony Chung, and Lori Massini also serve as executive producers. Blue Ant Studios handles production, with Matthew Hornburg, Mark J.W. Bishop, and Jennifer Twiner McCarron among the producers. Netflix drops all eight episodes on Sept. 10.
