Netflix is set to return with another chapter of its Monster anthology series next month. Season 4 will again feature Charlie Hunnam as part of its cast, with Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story focusing on the infamous Lizzie Borden case.
Charlie Hunnam’s Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story hits Netflix next month
Netflix will premiere Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story on September 17, 2026, bringing the fourth season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series to the streaming platform. The new installment will revisit the infamous case of Lizzie Borden. She faced trial in 1892 after being accused of killing her father and stepmother with an axe, but was acquitted. Previous seasons focused on the real-life murder cases involving Jeffrey Dahmer, Lyle and Erik Menendez, and Ed Gein, with Hunnma starring as Gein.
According to the upcoming season’s official logline, “When the repressed daughter of a wealthy New England family and her rebellious maid find themselves trapped in a house built on humiliation and cruelty, they escape into a fantasy of sex, power, and revenge. The gruesome unsolved murders that follow don’t just shock the world — they give birth to an icon who refuses to live imprisoned in a cage, choosing instead to forge her own legend: shocking, monstrous, and gloriously free.”
Ella Beatty leads the cast as Lizzie Borden, while Vicky Krieps portrays Bridget Sullivan. Other cast members include Charlie Hunnam as Andrew Borden, Rebecca Hall as Abby Borden, Billie Lourd as Emma, and Jessica Barden as Nance O’Neil.
Written by series co-creator Ian Brennan, the season will consist of eight episodes.
Beatty said about taking on the lead role, “This season gives us our first female Monster and delves into female rage and repression, which I’ve found to feel strikingly relevant. I cannot wait to share it with the world.”
