
MADURAI: A large number of people across different age groups had actively participated in a walkathon organized in Madurai today-September 27th 2026-by Apollo Speciality Hospitals here to raise public awareness about how to maintain heart health.
This 3-km walkathon which commenced at Gandhi Memorial Museum today morning was to commemorate World Heart Day (September 29) which focuses on healthier lifestyle practices, regular physical activity and cardiovascular health.
Madurai Apollo’s cardiologists-Dr.C.Vivek Bose, Dr.P.Subburamakrishnan, Dr.S.K.P.Karuppiah, Dr.M.Selvaganesh, Dr.M.Rangamanikandan and Dr.L.K.Senthilkumar- along with surgeons Dr.V.Sridhar and Dr.Manfred Fernando besides neurologist Dr.S.Meenakshi Sundaram had addressed a large gathering in an awareness session that highlighted the importance of regular health screening, early diagnosis and timely medical intervention, according to a press release received from Madurai Apollo Speciality Hospital here today.
A PIONEER IN BYPASS SURGERIES:
Dr.Nikhil Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer, Apollo Hospitals-ROTN, welcomed the walkathon participants and said that Apollo doctors have transformed Apollo into a national centre of excellence in India.

The health awareness session in Madurai today had focused on preventive healthcare, healthy heart and lifestyle modifications through regular physical exercises, the Apollo press release said.
