Brentford were far too good for them today and the Bees won comfortably after new signing Mamadou Sangare ran the show in the midfield. An emphatic 3-0 win for Brentford against their London rivals!

20:10 CET – There is more action to look forward to this evening in Ligue 1 with four matches getting underway at 20:45 and the standout clash sees Lyon travel to Toulouse.
Interestingly, with a huge Champions League qualifying second leg to come next week, Lyon head coach Paulo Fonseca has made 11 changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Fenerbache in the week.

19:40 CET – It is almost Super Cup time in Germany as Dortmund take on arch-rivals Bayern Munich and team news is in from that one!
The headline story is that Nathaniel Brown is making his Bayern Munich debut after joining from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

19:20 CET – Over in Ligue 1, Lens have carried on where they left off last season! PSG’s biggest title challengers in 2025/26 have stormed to an emphatic 5-2 victory against Auxerre to get their 2026/27 campaign off to the dream start.

19:05 CET – A disastrous start to the new season for Athletic Club as they lose badly at home to Sevilla! The home side were up against it from early on when Yuri Berchiche was sent off in the 11th minute before Oso fired the visitors ahead four minutes later.
And their afternoon only went downhill from there as Sevilla raced into a 3-0 lead before the hosts scored a consolation goal in the second half.

18:48 CET – Brentford are ahead against Spurs despite all the money that Roberto De Zerbi’s side have spent this summer. It was a brilliant finish by Keane Lewis-Potter after a clever pass from summer signing Mamadou Sangare.

17:59 CET – The afternoon games have come to an end in the Premier League with Leeds and Ipswich grabbing dramatic late wins, and Everton securing a 2-0 triumph over Crystal Palace.

17:49 CET – What a big few minutes in the Premier League! Leeds United have struck late on against Nottingham Forest to take a 1-0 lead, while newly-promoted Ipswich have gone 2-1 up against Sunderland heading into added time!

17:23 CET – The team news is in for Spurs‘ visit to Brentford in just over an hour, with new signings Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke and Sandro Tonali all set to make their debuts for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
Incredibly, at 20 years old, Archie Gray has become the youngest player to captain Spurs in a competitive match, after Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro were ruled out of the contest.

16:50 CET – It is half-time across the afternoon games in the Premier League, and it is so far so good for Everton after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s brilliant strike just before half-time gave Everton a priceless lead against Crystal Palace.

16:30 CET – The second match of the Ligue 1 2026/27 season is less than an hour away as last campaign’s surprise package Lens host Auxerre, and team news is in from that clash.

16:20 CET – The first piece of team news to LaLiga is in as Athletic Club host Sevilla from 17:00 CET and you can check it out below:

15:24 CET – All over for our first Premier League game of the day, and it’s a massive win for Hull City, who have beaten Manchester United 2-0 thanks to two set-piece goals in the first half.
A hugely disappointing day for Michael Carrick and his charges, who have hit the ground with a bump with a performance that never got started.
Check out the match report now.

15:13 CET – The last of the three games kicking off in 45 minutes or so sees Everton host Crystal Palace with the Eagles looking to start well under new manager Pierre Sage.
Hayden Hackney makes his first start for the Toffees in midfield, whilst Adam Wharton gets the nod for Palace, despite plenty of rumours around his future at the club.
The two teams did a rare swap deal over the summer, and Dwight McNeil starts against his former side, whilst Brennan Johnson is on the bench for the Toffees.

15:03 CET – Back to the DFB Pokal, where there have been no early shocks to start the day, as both Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg advanced against lower league opposition.

Follow all the action in just over an hour here.

14:44 CET – Despite the attacking change from Manchester United, they have been unable to break Hull down in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.
Here are the match stats as it stands.

14:32 CET – One change at the break for Manchester United with the returning Marcus Rashford coming on for Patrick Dorgu. His last Premier League appearance for the Red Devils came in December 2024. After loan spells with Aston Villa and Barcelona, can he make an impact against Hull City?
14:18 CET – Half-time in the north east, and it’s a dream start to life in the Premier League for Hull City, who hold a two-goal lead over Manchester United at the break.
For all the reinforcements and optimism with Michael Carrick’s side, they have struggled to really take control of the game, and playing without a recognisable centre forward is hindering them.
Much to ponder for the manager as he heads down the tunnel.

14:08 CET – Hull City are 2-0 ahead! Pandemonium inside the MKM Stadium as Nobel Mendy gets his head onto a free-kick from Regan Slater and the ball flies into the net. The perfect start to their season as ‘you’re getting mauled by the Tigers’ roars around the ground. For Michael Carrick and Manchester United, this is turning into a disaster.

14:05 CET – Bryan Mbeumo continues to be Manchester United’s brightest spark so far as they search for a leveller at Hull – the Cameroon international tries an ambitious overhead kick, which is blocked.

13:53 CET – Meanwhile, over in Germany, it is the traditional DFB Pokal curtain-raiser to start the season, and Bayer Leverkusen are in early action trying to avoid a cup shock.
They have the lead at half-time over 3. Liga side Wehen, thanks to a strike from Patrik Schick.
13:48 CET – Hull City have the lead!
A corner gets to the backpost where Oli McBurnie forces Senne Lammens into a great save off the post, but it falls to centre back Semi Ajayi, and he fires home from close range to put the Tigers in front. Manchester United would have thought this could be a soft start to the season; now they will know it is not.
13:45 CET – It’s a Premier League debut for Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, and he makes a good save to deny Bryan Mbeumo his first goal of the campaign. Hull, as expected, are sat in a defensive formation, but they have made a few forays forward, which have been cheered on by the home faithful.
13:30 CET – Here we go, then. It’s time for Manchester United’s season to get going as they travel to the north east to face Hull City.
The promoted side are not being given much of a chance of survival, but can they show they belong today?
12:25 CET – Team news is in for the first game of the day from the Premier League as newly promoted Hull City take on Manchester United!
The big team news is that Marcus Rashford is back on the Man United bench, whilst Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos make their debuts from the start.

09:18 CET – Before we get going with today’s action later this afternoon, let’s bring you some reaction from Arsenal’s comprehensive 3-0 win over Coventry to start their Premier League title defence.
Manager Mikel Arteta was pleased to see his players begin how they finished last season.
He said: “They look exactly the same (as last season) to me. What I did transmit to them was to show more desire and earn the right to be better than everyone else.
“There was a lot to like from the performance. It was a great result but also the manner we started the game.
“It was domination, clarity and understanding. It was really impressive.”
08:00 CET – Hello, and welcome to our coverage of the weekend’s football across the top European leagues and competitions. In case you missed it, here’s a little round-up of Friday’s key matches:
