Joshua Kimmich says Germany deserved to be eliminated

After Germany’s Round of 32 loss against Paraguay, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich spoke the media and touched on how it feels, and what caused this early exit — Germany’s third straight after winning it all in 2014.

The Germany captain said (as recorded by @iMiaSanMia), “It feels terrible. We didn’t play well against any of our opponents. We struggled badly in all three matches against teams that aren’t world-class. That’s a fact. We deserved to be eliminated.”

After beating Curaçao in the first match 7-1, a lot of fans and pundits thought that Germany could be back to their old ways and may have put the last two World Cups behind them. But, as Kimmich points out, Germany’s performance went downhill from there. They struggled to create against Ivory Coast, lost to Ecuador after scoring two minutes in, and now could not make it out of the Round of 32 against the 41st ranked Paraguay.

Do you agree with Kimmich? Did Germany deserve to be eliminated?
