James Marsden’s New Apple TV Show Sees X-Men Star Hilariously Evade Murder Charges

X-Men star James Marsden will try to solve a suspected murder in a new Apple TV comedic mystery series. The upcoming project comes from You’re the Worst creator Stephen Falk.

Apple TV has greenlit a brand new TV show, Bad News Dads, led by Marsden. It will be a half-hour TV series, based on an upcoming novel of the same name by Adam Frost, reports Deadline. The book is set to launch on April 6, 2027, officially.

What to know about Apple TV’s ‘Bad News Dads’ cast, story, and creative team?

Bad News Dads Apple TV show will follow an amateur baseball men’s rec league team where one of the players’ wives dies in a mysterious accident. The character of Ben, played by Marsden, then tries to evade murder charges during the investigation.

At first, one may think that the title of the book and TV show may have some connection with the sports movie Bad News Bears. However, that’s not the case at all.

Bad News Dads has Falk, Marsden, and Frost as the executive producers alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Robbie Rogers. The show will mark another major collaboration between Marsden and Apple TV. Previously, he has worked with the platform on Your Friends & Neighbors.

He will also star in and executive produce another thriller Apple TV series, titled Disavowed. It comes from creators Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. It will see Marsden playing the character of a legendary CIA Case Officer, Brad Griffin.

James Marsden has other big projects lined up as well. He will soon appear in the anticipated MCU movie Avengers: Doomsday later this year. The Emmy and Golden Globe nominee will reprise his iconic role of Scott Summers/Cyclops from the Fox X-Men movie franchise.

As for Bad News Dads, the Apple TV show has yet to receive an official release window.
