Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for Remain, the upcoming supernatural thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
Viewed as an otherworldly collaboration between M. Night Shyamalan and best-selling romance author Nicholas Sparks, the feature adapts Sparks’ 2025 novel of the same name.
The official synopsis for Remain reads, “When reclusive architect Tate Gordon moves to small coastal town to complete his latest project, he encounters an alluring young woman who pulls him out of his shell and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town.”

What do we see in the Remain trailer?
The Remain trailer opens with Jake Gyllenhaal’s character Tate Gordon, an architect who has moved to a small town after leaving a psychiatric facility. He meets an attractive young woman, Wren, played by Phoebe Dynevor. Tate tells her, “I brought you something.” She asks, “You did? What is it?”
He responds, “I got us a game.” The two are then shown having a romantic, playful time before Tate tells her, “Truth is, Wren, you’re not like anybody I’ve ever met.”
However, the romantic vibe takes a haunting twist with Wren’s character teased as a deadly mystery in the story. “Why can’t we be together?” she says. The trailer then shows Wren as a ghostly presence in Tate’s life. He is seen puzzled and confused over her entire existence.
Full details regarding the film’s plot are still under wraps. Remain is written by M. Night Shyamalan, parallel to Nicholas Sparks’ 2025 novel of the same name.
The cast also includes Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders.
Producers on the film are Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Theresa Park. Sparks is serving as the executive producer.
Warner Bros. Pictures will release Remain internationally on February 3, 2027, followed by its North American theatrical release on February 5, 2027.
